The Federal University of Technology, Minna, FUT Minna, Niger State, will graduate a total of 5,297 students for the 2024-2025 academic session, with 111 of them bagging first-class degrees.
Vice Chancellor Professor Farouk Adamu Kuta disclosed this during a press briefing on activities marking the institution’s 34th convocation ceremony, scheduled for February 1, 2026.
Giving a breakdown, the VC said 4,438 students will receive first degrees, 73 will be awarded Postgraduate Diplomas, 633 will earn Master’s degrees, while 153 will be conferred with Doctorate degrees, PhDs.
Kuta highlighted the university’s achievements in academic excellence, innovation, and expansion, noting that FUT Minna was ranked 7th best university in Nigeria in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and the top-ranked specialized university in the country.
He also announced the establishment of the College of Medical Science and Health Technology, following approval by the National Universities Commission, NUC, for the 2025/2026 session.
According to him, “Pioneer students have already commenced studies in MBBS (Medicine and Surgery), Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Pharm D, and Human Anatomy.”
The Vice Chancellor commended Abdulsamad Rabiu for donating a modern male medical students’ hostel and Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, for supporting the construction of a dedicated female medical students’ hostel.
On the controversy over holding the convocation on a Sunday, Kuta explained that it was not intentional, noting that the date coincided with the university’s 43rd Founders Day.
