2026 World Cup: We’re waiting for FIFA – NFF updates on case against DR Congo

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, says they are waiting for a positive ruling from FIFA, regarding their case against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The federation is protesting the use of players who were not eligible for the 2026 World Cup play-off final last November by the Congolese team.

The Leopards beat the Super Eagles via penalties, but weeks after the game was played, the NFF confirmed they had submitted a petition to FIFA.

NFF’s General Secretary, Dr Sanusi Mohammed, has now provided an update.

In an interview with Brila FM, Mohammed said: “We don’t venture into what we know is an exercise in futility.

“As far as we are concerned we have a good case and we are waiting for what FIFA will say as regards to the complaints we have logged.”
