The Zone 2 Police Command has paraded four suspected members of an alleged interstate robbery syndicate following their arrest in Lagos.
The suspects were identified as Francis Fidelis (34), Hassan Atahiru (30), Ikpi Johnson Ibiang, and Aishatu Seni Ali.
Police authorities said the group was allegedly led by Fidelis, who is believed to be based in Port Harcourt and coordinated operations across multiple states.
According to the police, the investigation was triggered by a written petition submitted on February 4, 2026, by the Parkview Residents Association, Ikoyi, to the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2.
The petition complained of repeated burglary incidents within the estate, with several homes reportedly broken into and valuables stolen.
The command said similar petitions from other locations were also received, prompting the matter to be handed over to the Zonal Anti-Piracy Unit for discreet investigation.
Acting on intelligence, operatives traced the suspects to a short-let apartment known as George Residence along Femi-Pedro Street in Parkview Estate, where Fidelis and other members of the gang were arrested on February 6, 2026.
The operation, which continued into the early hours of February 7, led to the recovery of vehicles, jewellery and other valuables estimated to be worth over N3 billion.
Police alleged that Fidelis relocated to Lagos last year and deliberately rented short-term apartments in highbrow, gated communities to gain unhindered access to targeted estates.
He was said to have carried out robberies wearing hooded clothing and face masks, while armed with weapons.
Investigators further claimed that Fidelis confessed to several robberies in Parkview Estate, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lekki Phase 1 and other parts of Lagos Island. His alleged confession reportedly led to the arrest of Atahiru, whom police described as a receiver of stolen items.
Atahiru was said to have admitted buying gold and diamond jewellery, gold bars, designer wristwatches and other valuables from Fidelis after meeting him in 2024 during one of his visits to Lagos.
He allegedly told investigators that many of the items were moved to Cotonou, Benin Republic, through his brother to evade detection, while part of the proceeds was used to purchase a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLE valued at about N74 million for Fidelis.
Recovered exhibits included a dark grey, unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLE with chassis number 4JGED6EB7JA094974, a Lexus RX 350 with registration number AB451KR, a plastic pistol, five crowbars, pliers, screwdrivers, a kitchen knife, an adjustable spanner, face masks, hooded clothing and gloves.
Also recovered were seven mobile phones, four iPads, several pieces of jewellery including earrings, wristwatches, rings, necklaces and bracelets, as well as two backpacks with multiple compartments.
Speaking during the parade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Adamu Bello Mohammed, who represented the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Adegoke Fayoade, said investigations were ongoing.
“We are expanding the investigation to identify other members of the syndicate and recover additional stolen items,” he said, adding that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
