NPFL directs Shooting Stars to pick new stadium for home matches

The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, has directed Shooting Stars to choose a new ground for the home matches.

The NPFL gave the Oluyole Warriors options to relocate to either the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos or the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta.

The directive followed concerns over the deteriorating condition of the pitch at the Lekan Salami Stadium, in Ibadan, which they described as not suitable for television broadcast.

The decision was communicated to the Ibadan-based club in a letter signed by the NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi on Friday.

The NPFL emphasized that the move became necessary to maintain the integrity of the league, ensure quality match presentation, and protect the welfare of players, officials, and broadcasters.

Until significant improvement and certification of the Lekan Salami Stadium pitch are carried out, Shooting Stars are expected to host their remaining home fixtures at either of the approved alternative venues.

Shooting Stars will host Rivers United in their next home fixture.
