Two women have been arrested by the Adamawa State police command in connection with a case of suspected child trafficking.
Three underage girls believed to have been victims were rescued in the process.
The suspects are Hasiya Yuguda, 35 years of NEPA, Jimeta Yola North LGA and Ummulkhairi Abubakar, 40 years of Wuro-Hausa, Yola South LGA.
The rescued girls are of the ages 14, 15 and 16 years respectively.
This was disclosed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje who explained that on the 17th February, 2026, the operatives of the command attached to State Intelligence Department (SID), acting on credible intelligence, intercepted three teenagers (the victims) at Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park.
According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the minors were deceitfully brought to Yola and were in the process of being transported to Abuja under the pretence of securing juicy domestic work for them.
Nguroje added that further investigation implicated one 48-year-old Simon Boniface of Bitakoyali in Taraba State who is currently assisting the police in the ongoing investigation.
“The rescued teenagers are in protective custody while efforts are ongoing to trace and reunite them with their respective families as investigation continues,” Nguroje said.
He urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and properly verify any employment or travel arrangements involving their children.
