Police probes death of two children drowned in Bauchi river

Bauchi State Police are investigating the death of two children who drowned while swimming in a river on the outskirts of the city.

The incident was reported in a post shared on X on Tuesday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.

According to the post, the victims, Saminu Mohammed, 12, and Tanimu Danladi, 11, both from Gudum Sayawa, went to the river on Monday, around 4:30 p.m., when they tragically got drowned.

Police officers quickly responded, removing the children from the water and taking them to the Specialist Hospital in Bauchi.

A medical practitioner later confirmed that both boys had died.

“Their remains were released to their families for burial, while police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, “Makama wrote.
