Applicants who qualified for screening into the Nigeria Police have been warned to maintain discipline and avoid bribery and misconduct throughout the process and accept the outcome in good faith.
This warning was issued by the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, while addressing the successful candidates during commencement of screening exercise at the Police Command headquarters, Osogbo on Monday.
Gotan who was represented by Ademola Adebayo, Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, told the applicants that their nomination for the exercise was commendable.
He added that those who eventually succeed would be congratulated on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police.
“Your nomination is good. If you do not make it again, accept it. But if you make it, I congratulate you in the name of the Inspector-General of Police,” he said.
The Osun police boss advised the candidates to comport themselves properly during the exercise, stressing that good conduct would be closely monitored by the screening officials.
He also warned applicants against desperation, particularly attempts to influence the process through bribery or other inducements.
“Do not give money and do not offer sexual favours. Once you are not picked, do not complain because you may end up getting yourself into trouble,” he cautioned.
Team Leader from the Police Service Commission, PSC, for Osun State, Funmi Akinyose, while addressing the applicants, emphasised the importance of presenting all required documents for verification.
She explained that the screening process would be smoother if candidates ensured that their certificates and other credentials were properly arranged and available.
“We need copies of your certificates. To make the process seamless, ensure you have all your certificates in order,” Akinyose told the applicants.
She added that the documentation part of the screening exercise would be carried out by the PSC.
Similarly, the Head of Screening, Assistant Commissioner of Police Yusuf Adeyemi, warned candidates not to attempt lobbying or use unofficial channels to influence the outcome of the recruitment.
He stressed that the recruitment process was free and transparent and warned that anyone caught attempting to bribe officials would face serious consequences.
“This is a free exercise. Do not put yourself into trouble by giving money for lobbying. If you lobby and you are caught, you will be in serious trouble,” Adeyemi said.
He added that candidates should avoid distractions by switching off their phones and that female applicants should remove earrings during the screening exercise.
