The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, says Rivers State will continue to set the pace in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Wike made the remark on Friday in Port Harcourt at the inauguration of the Senatorial and Local Government Cordinators of Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
He praised his supporters for translating their backing for President Bola Tinubu into concrete action, despite what he described as their “little resources.”
He also commended members of the organising committee and local government chairmen for what he described as massive mobilisation across the state.
According to him, President Tinubu is closely observing the conduct of those genuinely committed to his re-election.
He told his supporters and those of the President that the scale of mobilisation witnessed at the event would likely unsettle opposition camps.
Wike, however, urged his supporters to remain steadfast in their support for the president.
He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for supporting the coalition that produced the candidates for the February 21, 2026 by-elections in Rivers State.
The former Rivers State governor urged voters to cast their ballots for the two All Progressives Congress, APC, candidates contesting the by-election.
He said, “Whereever you are, these are the candidates to support in the February 21 election.”
The three senatorial district coordinators for the Rivers Renewed Hope Ambassadors are Felix Obua, Boma Iyayi, and Marcus Nleegi.
The event is seen as setting the tone ahead of the 2027 general election in Rivers State, under what the minister has described as “The Rainbow Coalition”, a merger of the APC and the PDP.
