South-East govs, political leaders keeping Igbos under bondage – Self determination activists

Pan-Igbo self determination activists, Ambassadors for Self Determination, have declared that Igbo political leaders are keeping the people of the South-East under bondage.

In a statement on Friday, signed by Mazi Evans Nwankwo, the activists expressed regrets that Igbo governors and other political leaders frequently gather for meetings but neglect to deliberate on IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s freedom, and the concerns of the people of the South-East.

The group also knocked Works minister, Dave Umahi, for boasting that President Bola Tinubu has defied the Biafra agitation.

The Ambassadors for Self Determination described Umahi’s statement as an admission of the ongoing conspiracy to crush the legitimate aspirations of the people of the South-East.

Umahi had while speaking after his son was declared winner of the local government congress of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi State, declared that Tinubu has addressed the marginalisation of South-East, which he said was responsible for the agitation of Biafra in the region.

“Whether you like it or not, the President has defied all the agitation for Biafra,” the minister said.

Reacting to the development, the activists said individuals who it described as political jobbers have been recruited by the Nigerian government to subjugate the people of the South-East.

“Ambassadors for Self Determination condemns this as a shameful admission of the ongoing conspiracy to crush the legitimate aspirations of the Biafran people.

“Umahi’s words, uttered without remorse, reveal the depths to which Abuja’s puppet masters have sunk, manipulating Igbo political jobbers to perpetuate the subjugation of our people. It is now incumbent upon the Igbo nation to awaken and choose: submission to these traitors or a resolute path toward self-determination.

“We must cease blaming external forces for our plight and confront the harsh reality that our own elected officials—handpicked through a corrupt system we have tolerated—are the architects of our bondage.

“From Charles Soludo’s tyrannical market closures to the servile posturing of figures like Dave Umahi and Orji Uzor Kalu, these charlatans masquerade as leaders while actively sabotaging Biafra people. They are the latter-day Warrant Chiefs, sworn enemies of our freedom, who conspired to imprison Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for life.”

The statement cited comments made by former All Progressives Congress, APC, national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, to justify its claim that Igbo political leaders have abandoned Kanu.

The activists noted that non-Igbo political leaders and others have been left with the task of working for the IPOB leader’s freedom.

“As former Kano Governor and APC Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje candidly revealed in his interview, Igbo politicians have deliberately abandoned Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leaving non-Igbos with no impetus to intervene. Anybody hoping or thinking these Abuja errand-boys will campaign for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release from detention is a dreamer.

“They are the ones keeping him in detention, not the captured and corrupt Abuja bench.

“This is the uncomfortable truth we must all confront: a cabal of fewer than 20 individuals holding millions hostage, ensuring Biafra remains stifled, because each and every one of them wants to become Igbo President of Nigeria. A dream they would never realize under the current contraption called Nigeria,” the statement added.

The group alleged that part of the conditions for which the current crop of South-East governors and political leaders were given power was their commitment to work against Nnamdi Kanu and the Biafra struggle.

The statement said, “These governors and their ilk ascended to power only after pledging allegiance against Kanu and Biafra—a prerequisite enforced by the powers in Abuja. How can we expect external support when Soludo and his cohorts occupy seats of authority? The natural animosities from other segments of Nigeria pale in comparison to the betrayal from within.

“Umahi’s boast that Tinubu operates beyond “sentiments” is code for the ruthless suppression of our rights, disguised as national unity under the APC banner—a party that promises development while delivering chains of perpetual bondage.”

The activists called on the people of the South-East to come together and strategize on how to keep the political leaders out of government from the 2027 election.

“The Ambassadors For Self Determination calls on all Biafrans to identify these internal enemies, isolate them, and reject their provocations. Come 2027, resist the siren call of rigged elections that count for nothing and end in bloodshed for protesters. If they force open markets on Mondays against the will of the people in defiance of our sit-at-home protests, let them—while we strategize a grand plan to bar Soludo, Umahi, and their kind from ever nearing government house again.

“Until we purge these puppets, the freedom of Biafrans will remain a distant dream, thwarted not by external foes, but by the greed and cowardice of our own.

“The time for pretense is over. Biafra lives in the hearts of the people, not in the corridors of Abuja’s corruption. We urge unity, strategic action, and unwavering resolve. The rising sun of freedom will not be eclipsed by traitors,” the Ambassadors for Self Determination declared.
