United States of America President, Donald Trump issued a serious warning to Iran on Tuesday, demanding the immediate removal of any naval mines potentially laid in the Strait of Hormuz, threatening severe military repercussions if they are not swiftly addressed.
This warning comes as the U.S. mulls plans to escort commercial vessels through this crucial shipping route.
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump declared, “If Iran has put out any mines in the Hormuz Strait, and we have no reports of them doing so, we want them removed, IMMEDIATELY! If, for any reason, mines were placed, and they are not removed forthwith, the military consequences to Iran will be at a level never seen before.”
He added, “On the other hand, if they choose to remove any mines,” it will be a significant step forward.
The statement follows reports from U.S. officials suggesting that Iran may be preparing to deploy naval mines in the critical waterway to disrupt shipping in the Persian Gulf.
