Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued five kidnapped victims and evacuated two injured civilians following an attack in Sokoto State.
The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X on Saturday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, the attack occurred late at night on April 1 in Chacho Village, Wurno Local Government Area, following reports of terrorist activities in the area.
Troops of the 8 Division were said to have responded quickly to a distress call. On arrival, they found that two civilians had suffered gunshot injuries during the attack.
The injured victims were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The troops then moved to pursue the attackers along their escape route, but no contact was made.
However, during a follow-up search of the area, five kidnapped victims were discovered and rescued after being abandoned by the fleeing attackers.
“The victims were rescued unharmed and have since been reunited with their families, while the injured persons are receiving treatment,” the source said.
The operation ended without further incident, while troops continued clearance operations in the area to prevent another attack.
